Applications of virtual reality include entertainment with sports, education (such as medical or military training), and business, such as virtual meetings. VR requires a headset-which is expensive, by the way-and works by immersing you in a “virtual” setting. Some days it may seem like something we can all use as an escape mechanism. All those settings! All those buttons! It’s a little intimidating.Įnter VR! VR is a simulated experience that can be similar to or completely different from the real world. Almost every day I discover something about my phone that I didn’t know before. Isn’t it worth loving? Well, there it is. need music? How about games? You can watch, stream or listen. There are “apps” galore to do what I possibly want or need. I’ve finally adjusted to my smartphone that isn’t tied to a cord and can take pictures, give me directions, track my steps, connect me to the Internet, and do any tasks I have. As I remember, they had a small antenna, and you might not get much service, but you were running with the latest technology. Remember there were people who bought fake phones just to look cool? And then in the early 1970s, Motorola was the first company to mass-produce handheld mobile phones first. Clever! Before I knew it, car phones were for the masses.

You can pick up the phone and walk around talking. The next advancement in technology was the telephone which no longer required you to be tied to a cord. The world was burning with new technology which started changing the day to day business world. very nice! Around the same time, computers emerged in the banking industry to be used for complex calculations and yes, for word processing. Next came IBM’s “Correcting Selectrik.” A typewriter that can correct errors only by backspacing. You know that keys need a really good thump to make the impression of letters on paper.

In high school my typing class used a manual typewriter. I thought I’d get into really advanced technology when I started typing on an electric typewriter back in the day.
